Curry Visits Lions

Curry, 29, has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with Oakland. He started 10 games last season and played in three others, catching 19 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns.

Curry’s best seasons came in 2006 and 2007. He averaged 59 catches for 722 yards and three touchdowns during that stretch.

The Lions added ex-San Francisco starter Bryant Johnson earlier this offseason but are still seeking wide receiver depth after releasing Mike Furrey and not re-signing free agents Shaun McDonald and Keary Colbert. As first reported by FOXSports.com, the Lions were awarded wide receiver Will Franklin — a 2008 fourth-round draft pick — off waivers Tuesday from Kansas City.

Upgrading the wide receiver position in Detroit will take on even more importance if the Lions select Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford with the top overall pick in next weekend’s draft. Detroit would like to find a complement to Calvin Johnson, who had a career-best 78 receptions for 1,331 yards and 12 touchdowns last season despite playing on an 0-16 team.

Oakland also is searching for receiver help and may use the No. 7 overall pick in the draft to address the position. No Raiders wideout had more than 22 catches in 2008.
