Giants Sign Henderson
June 23, 2008
The New York Giants on Friday signed defensive end Robert Henderson, one of their two sixth-round picks this year.
The Giants also added depth to their receiving corps, signing Craphonso Thorpe, who was acquired off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the week.
The 6-3, 283-pound Henderson can provide depth at defensive end following the recent retirement of All-Pro Michael Strahan.
In 46 games at Southern Mississippi, Henderson registered 173 tackles (115 solo), 13 1/2 sacks and 29 1/2 stops for losses.
Thorpe played five games last season for the Indianapolis Colts. He caught 12 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, returned 15 kickoffs for 318 yards and brought back six punts for 31 yards.
In the final game of the season, he had six catches for 23 yards and a touchdown in a 16-10 loss to Tennessee.
