Ronald Curry got some help from his friends on Saturday.
Julius Peppers and Dré Bly, Curry’s buds from back in their North Carolina Tar Heel days, were among the players who participated in Curry’s football clinic at Darling Stadium that was informal and free.
“I knew Ronald back in high school,” said Bly, who attended Western Branch in Chesapeake, while Curry led Hampton High to three consecutive state championships from 1995-1997. “I was a big fan of his in high school, an admirer of a guy that was so talented. I brag on him all the time, about how as a high school athlete, he was a celebrity around here.”

A: His first camp, he looked like a rookie. He looked good, but he still made rookie mistakes. He’s gotten better and better. I think if he has to play this year, he’ll do great, do a good job.

Curry says it’s much better to receive
June 17, 2007

Ronald Curry heard his name called after making a spectacular third-down catch more than once last season. But he’d like to hear his name called before kickoff, too.
“I want to hear my name called over the loudspeakers,” Curry said. ” ‘Ronald Curry in the starting lineup.’ I want to run out the tunnel.”
More times than not, Curry made a big play on third down, only to trot back to the sideline and wait for another third-and-long situation.

What this means, see, is someone who can make plays is actually getting the chance to do that. From the start.
“The ball’s in my court for the first time,” says Curry, entering his sixth season. “It’s mine to lose and not mine to take. All the years before I had to go out there and perform to get playing time. Now if I don’t perform, it’s on me.”
