Esks Sign Hard Hitting Linebacker
March 5, 2008
The Edmonton Eskimos bolstered their linebacker corps today, signing free agent import Thaddaeus Washington out of the University of Colorado.
Washington was regarded as one of the hardest-hitting linebackers in the Big 12 Conference and ranks eighth on Colorado’s all-time list with 338 tackles and tenth in solo tackles with 202. As a senior in 2006, Washington was second on the Buffaloes with 107 tackles and earned honourable mention from both the All-Big 12 Conference and the Associated Press. The 24-year-old was also named to ESPN’s All-May Day team, which recognizes the toughest players by position.
The six-foot, 245-pounder signed as an undrafted free agent last year with Buffalo and was released following the pre-season.
